MADISON - Eric Alvin Andersen age 48 of Madison and formerly of Stevens Point and Kohler, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Agrace HospiceCare Center after a short but courageous battle with cancer on February 15, 2013. Eric was the son of the late LeRoy "Andy" and Evelyn (Emmel) Andersen. He was a 1985 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High School. Eric was employed at Copps Corporation and enjoyed many friendships with fellow employees and customers during his near 20 year work history there. As an accomplished Special Olympian, Eric enjoyed sports of all kinds. Spending time and traveling with family and friends was Eric's true joy. He loved the Wisconsin winters and snowmobiling in Northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed trips to the "cottage", summers in Virginia, the beaches of North Carolina as well as trips to visit family in Maine. Eric loved all sports and was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewer fan. He enjoyed music, loved dancing, movies, word puzzles and reading the morning paper. He was a gardener and also loved to sing. Eric is survived by one sister, Kathryn (Wayland) Pond of Suffolk, VA; brothers, Phillip (Nance) of Poland, ME, David of whom Eric resided with in Madison, and Kurt (Marge) of Stevens Point; nieces, Evelyn, Susan (Peter) and Natalie; nephews, Lawrence, Christopher (Nellie), John, Cody and Stephen (Amy); great nieces and nephew, Cassie, Paloma and James, extended family Wayland Pond IV, Christiaan (Cristin) Pond, Cynthia Seymour and a lifelong friend, Raymond Krentz. In addition to his parents and grandparents, Eric was preceded in death by one brother, Mark (Suzanne) and step-parent, Maxine Andersen. A memorial gathering to celebrate Eric's life will take place at AGRACE HOSCPICECARE CENTER, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy., Madison on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 1 p.m. Interment in the Kohler Village Woodlawn Cemetery and a celebration in Stevens Point of Eric's life will be announced at a later date.
