JANESVILLE - Elmo L. Brown, Sr., age 81 of Janesville, Wis., passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Elmo was born November 22, 1936, in South Milwaukee, Wis., the son of the late Albert and Nellie Brown. Elmo earned his GED from Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville. He also took several auto mechanic classes. Elmo had various jobs, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time to support his family. He belonged to the Salvation Army Church in Janesville. He was an active member, attending church and Sunday school nearly every week. He was an avid bell ringer for many Christmas seasons, playing his harmonica of which he was self-taught. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and doing puzzles with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman, fan of the Rock Aqua Jays, and decorated specialty canes for his friends. Elmo is survived by his daughter, Tammy Brown; son, Elmo (Rebecca) Brown, Jr.; grandchildren, Aja Crayton, Darius Brown, Chloe Page, Devonte Page, Nakoa Page, Serenity Wetenkamp, and Paytience Wetenkamp; great-grandchildren, Serina and Jeremiyah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Nellie Brown; his brothers, Romney, Lorry, Gareth, Ronald, Harley, Delos and Cyril; sisters, Bonita and Eulalia; his wife, Irene Nagel; and granddaughter Serina Brown. A memorial service will be held at the JANESVILLE SALVATION ARMY CORPS CHURCH, 514 Sutherland Ave., Janesville, on Sunday, January 21, 2018, beginning at 2 p.m. A luncheon/visitation will take place at the Salvation Army starting at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
