Madison-Ella Wilhelmina Freund Edland died on October 6, 2007 at her home at Oakwood Village East Meadows. She was born 98 years ago, the daughter of William Freund and Emma Reinhold Freund, and lived in Madison all her life. She grew up in the Freund home at 112 N. Hancock Street with her eight brothers and sisters. She was a life long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, just around the corner from Hancock St. She married Alfred Edland in 1931 and they spent 60 happy years together before he died in 1991. Ella is survived by her children, Robert Edland, (Carole) of La Crosse, Mary Ellen Hunt of Sacramento, California, Lori Poulson (Jack) of Madison, and Jon Edland (Alice) of Cary, N.C. She will always remain the beloved grandmother of nine and great grandma of ten. She is also survived by her brother William Freund, (Dorothy), of Watersmeet, Michigan, a sister-in-law, Solveig Entwistle of Stoughton, and a brother-in-law, Arnie McMillen of Madison. There will be no visitation. Pastor John Swanson of Bethel Lutheran Church will conduct a service of Christian burial for Ella at her grave site (Section G) at Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona, on Saturday, October 13th at 1:00 p.m.
