COTTAGE GROVE - Douglas Archer, age 66, of Cottage Grove, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, exactly four years to the day his father passed. Doug died at Agrace HospiceCare as the result of cancer. Doug was born in Cumberland, Wis., the only son of James and Joyce Archer. He retired from J. H. Findorff & Son for whom he worked immediately after high school, the final 28 years as general field superintendent for their affiliate Wall-tech, Inc. in the greater Milwaukee area. He never groused the long commute and maintained a deep commitment to and inexpressible gratitude for the company that nurtured his potential and honored his dedication for 43 years. Left to foster his memory are his wife of 45 years, Jeanie; three sons, James (Rebekah), Jared (Sarah), and Jordan (Bernadette); daughter Callie; mother, Joyce and sister, Gloria Archer; six grandchildren, Regan, Hayden, Dakota, Douglas, Colton and Samuel; sisters-in-law, Judy Wyskoarko and Jill Reese; two brothers-in-law, Jeff (Diane) and Joel (Sara) Johnson; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family invites you to a celebration of Dougs life at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016. A luncheon will be served. In lieu of flowers, please bring a pie to the celebration. We are grateful to Dr. Justine Bruce of UW Oncology, Dr. Greg Hartig and Dr. Ed Kramper who oversaw so considerably Dougs care these past two years and the entire staff at Agrace HospiceCare.
