Dorothy Theresa Hughes

ARLINGTON - Dorothy Theresa Hughes passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 in Arlington, Wis. She was born on May 10, 1929 to Frank Downing and Rose (Schmeltzer) Downing. She was united in marriage to Donald J Hughes on Nov. 16, 1946. He proceeded her in death April 29, 2008. They were married for 62 years. Don and Dorothy loved traveling together, especially to Arizona and many places out West. Dorothy was the most caring, generous, forgiving and loving person. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members as well as a foster parent for many years. She had a great love for all animals, especially her dogs Coco and Daisy. She is survived by her children and spouses, James (Annette) Hughes, Jane (Rimas) Caplenas, Debra (Bruce) Haack, Joan (Glen Gundlach) Duren; 11 loving grandchildren, Jonathan (Kelly) Caplenas, Regina Caplenas, Monica (Hoyt) Harrison, James, Gena (Jesse Powell) and Tiffany Hughes, Alex Hummel, Keith (Tara) Duren, Stevie (Bryan) Croissant, Shannon (Courtney Lockhart), and Randi Duren; 17 great-grandchildren, Haley, Jack, Nessa, Cameron, Chloe, Hayden, Hudson, Keegan, Riley, Gage, Addison, Calvin, Chesney, Gracin, Kane, Payton, Alainna, Alex and Tiffany; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; and people that were extremely meaning full to her life, Renee and Peyton Annen. She is preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Lavern, Raymond, Lloyd, and Edward Downing, sister, Violet; and a great-grandson, Sawyer Croissant. Visitation will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison on Friday Jan. 15, 2016 from 4 p.m. 6 p.m. followed by a service at 6 p.m. officiated by Rev. Gloria Stubitsch. There will be a private graveside service for family members at Highland Memory Gardens, Madison on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016.
