MADISON - Dorothy Mae Hall, age 93, of Madison, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Jan 21, 2013 at Capital Lakes Health Center. She was born on May 24, 1919, in Chicago, IL to her parents Frank & Amelia Miller. Amelia Miller passed away when Dorothy was 6 months old. Ten years later, Dorothy's father remarried Theresa Miller. On June 30, 1945, Dorothy was united in marriage to Ralph Arthur Hall , DDS of Oak Park, Ill. In Chicago, Dorothy was a Dental Assistant when she first met Ralph. That same year Dorothy and Ralph along with two other couples they knew, moved to Decatur, Il. where Dorothy was her husband's Office Administrator. Dorothy was an Angel who shared love with whomever she encountered. She was the 'Gramma' of the neighborhood always being visited by many of the neighborhood's children to play with her and her Boston Terriers. Dorothy always had a smile on her face and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to read mysteries and created a Notebook of two hundred dental cartoons from 1943 to 1968. One of Dorothy's hobbies was writing quotes of loving words and encouragements. Many summers, Dorothy and Ralph would spend time relaxing and entertaining on their houseboat on Lake Shelbyville, IL. Dorothy always kept active and at age 80 she was still waterskiing. Dorothy had a beautiful voice and sang with the St. Patricks Church Choir in Decatur. Dorothy was the 'designated driver', tour guide and social coordinator for her friends and family. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Jeannene (Brian) Mosley of Middleton; daughter-in-law, Martha Hall of Normal, IL; grandchildren, Dr. Bill (Juliet) Hall of Indianapolis, Dr. Rebecca (Dustin) Hall-Fife of Orland Park, IL, Branden Mosley (Andrew Eldred) of Minneapolis; nephews, Norm and Wayne Hall and Marvin (Eileen) Hoffman; grandnieces, Debbie, Janice, Jill and Shelby; and grandnephew Tim Hoffman. Owen Dr., Madison on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 beginning at 11 a.m. Dorothy's cremated remains will be placed with Ralph at WOODLAWN CEMETERY in FOREST PARK, IL. during a Memorial Service and Celebration Of Life attended by friends and family in mid-April. The family's appreciation is extended to THE GARDEN'S INDEPENDENT LIVING, MERITER HOSPITAL and CAPITOL LAKES HEALTH CENTER. It was Dorothy's wish that any memorials be made in her honor to Red Caboose Day Care and The Center For Families in Madison Dorothy once wrote this note to her daughter Jeannene and it describes who Dorothy was... "Love is everything a heart can hold but only for a minute. For love is to give and to give is to know JOY, PEACE and SATISFACTION."
