DE PERE - Donald George Neerdaels, age 79, died Sunday July 4, 2010 after a 2-year battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at his daughter’s home in Verona, WI surrounded by his loving family. Donald, son of George P and Leona G Neerdaels, was born on Nov 5, 1930 in Green Bay. He was a 1948 graduate of East Green Bay High School, going on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Education at the WI State College at Whitewater. Donald was united in marriage to Dorothy J Sitka on June 27, 1953, recently celebrating 57 years together. Donald was a high school teacher and coach in the De Pere School district. He also worked in the Personnel Department at Fort Howard Paper Co. Donald was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church and active in the Green Bay Optimist Club and Green Bay Curling Club. He was an award-winning high school and college athlete in both baseball and football, remaining an avid sports fan throughout his life. He is survived by his wife Dorothy and his 4 children Michelle (Ken) Meier, Debra (Bill) Davis, Cari (John) Oswald, Randall Neerdaels along with 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother Kenneth (Roberta) Neerdaels and sister Joyce (Edward) Krummel and nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald is preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Loni L. Neerdaels. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday July 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S Madison Street, Green Bay. There will be a brief visitation beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts may be made to the Garden of Grace.
