Dominick Fleres

MADISON - Dominick Flere’s journey here on earth came to an end Friday morning, June 13, 2008, of lung cancer at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born February 10, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Eugene, from Catania, Sicily and Angelina (Trivilini) Fleres, from Torino, Italy. His life was the piano and singing. In his earlier days in NYC during the Rock n’ Roll days, or the R& B era, he and Bobby Weinstein, of BMI fame, formed a group with two others called “The Legends” who Marv Goldberg writes about in his “R & B Notebooks” on the web. Dominick had a group called “The Kartunes” and also had practice sessions at his home with Neil Sedaka and Carol King. Dominick was also a studio musician and happened to be the piano player on the 50’s hit “At the Hop.” He moved to Madison in the 1970’s with his family and played all around Wisconsin. Dominick is survived by his brother Frank (Judy) Fleres, of Madison; three daughters, Angela (Patrick) Gang, of Florida, Peggy Fleres, of Minnesota, and Jenifer (Bill) Martin, of Washington; five grandchildren, Dominick, Anthony, Andrea, Connie, and Angelina; three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Angelina, and Layla; three nephews, Thomas, Michael, and Anthony; and one niece, Maria Spenle. He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving companion of 22 years, Jean Kliment, who passed away earlier this year. Services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 LIEN ROAD. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until time of service.
