CROSS PLAINS - Dennis Keith Prochaska “Potts”, age 63, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, after a long illness. “Potts” was born on June 11, 1948 in Dodgeville. He grew up in Mazomanie and Cross Plains and graduated from Middleton High School in 1967. After working as a meat cutter, he bought Tubby and Milly’s Bar in Cross Plains, which became Potts Inn. His mother, Phyllis “Ma “Potts”” and brother, Warren worked with him. Potts Inn had many big name bands perform with which “Potts”” played the wash board. On many Sunday afternoons there were “Big Band Jams”. He was so proud when Potts Inn was named one of the “Ten Best Roadhouses” in the Jan 1992 issue of Car and Driver Magazine. “Potts” served on the Cross Plains Village Board and sponsored many local sports teams. He is survived by his brothers, Warren Knaub and Dan (Dorie) Prochaska of Cross Plains, Tom (Jane) Prochaska of Waynesboro, PA; sisters, Mary Jo (Tony) Phillips of Pottsville, Australia, and Jackie (Rod) Von Behren, of Waunakee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Prochaska and niece, Marissa Roofe-Von Behren. A celebration of “Potts” life will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the AMERICAN LEGION POST 245, 2217 American Legion Drive, Cross Plains. A special thanks to the UW TLC and Palliative Care units and his friends and caregivers at Middleton Village Nursing and Rehab Center. “Potts” was a big man with a big heart.
