REEDSBURG, WIS/BEVERLY HILLS, FL – Delbert George Arndt, age 80 of Reedsburg, Wis., and formerly of Beverly Hills, Florida, entered into his eternal rest surrounded by his wife and family on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, following a courageous battle with lung disease. Del will be remembered for his quick wit, his smile, his love of the United States Marine Corp. and the privilege that was his in serving his country. He was born April 23, 1926 in Milwaukee, the only child of Clarence G. and Doris (Lacke) Arndt. He married Dorothy R. Wolf/Yerges on January 22, 1962. Del proudly served in the US Marine Corp., enlisting at Milwaukee in May of 1943, participating in the Asiatic-Pacific area during World War II. Del was wounded in action March 4, 1945 while serving on Iwo Jima, receiving the Purple Heart for his injuries. Del’s professional career concluded as a Corporate Traffic Manager for W.A. Krueger Co. in Brookfield, Wis. He is survived by his Wife Dorothy; children, Michael O. (Bette) Arndt, of Memphis, Tenn. and Kathleen (Thomas) Andreasen, Union Grove, Wis; step-children, Leslie (Tammi) Yerges, Greensboro, North Carolina, Duane (Alicia )Yerges, Necedah, Wis., Daryl (Mary) Yerges, Reedsburg, Wis., and Stan Yerges, Fond du Lac, Wis., 18 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the COLUMBUS CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 755 Waterloo St., Columbus on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 at 11 A.M. Private family inurnment will be held on Monday in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wis.
