Dean A. Miller

MADISON/ROME, WIS. - Dean A. Miller, age 87, passed away on Nov. 5, 2023, at Oregon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Prairie du Sac, Wis., the son of Arthur and Verna (Elsing) Miller. On August 12, 1983, he was united in marriage to Victoria “Vicki” Bagin.

After growing up on the family farm, Dean joined the U.S. Army and attended training in Illinois. Upon his return to Wisconsin, he began his career at Steel Forms Construction and then went to work in Madison at Hottman Construction for 34 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed his time at Hottman, especially the summers when some of the Badger football players worked with him on his crew.

A few years after he retired, Dean and Vicki moved to Lake Sherwood. They enjoyed the time there with their four schnauzers. An avid fisherman, Dean received many trophies from tournaments he participated in over the years. A true sports fan, he loved to watch the Badgers, the Chicago Cubs and ‘da Bears’.

Dean is survived by his three children, Michael and David of Middleton, and Nora of Madison; stepdaughter, Justine (Chris) Prietto of La Quinta, CA; grandchildren, Dakota (Kersten Converse), Alisha (Devin Hernandez), Deronda Randall (Makayla Morales), Peter Randall, James Nagels, Jessica (Nick) Grant, Kirsten Prietto, Heather Prietto, and Elias Pomeroy; great-grandchildren, Xia, Diesel, Axel, Knox, Gianna, Isabella, and Arya. He is also survived by his two brothers, Bob (Suzie) and Dale; sister, Karel (Duane) Tormey; and sisters-in-law, Mary Miller, Patricia Jennings and Sandra Rumsey.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki; parents, Arthur and Verna; brother, William; former spouse, Margie Miller (nee Jennings); mother-in-law, Anna; sisters-in-law, Kathy Bagin and Bernadine Juno; brother-in-law, Norm Jennings; and stepson, Tim Pomeroy.

A service will be held at LAKES AREA CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, 1167 Alpine Dr., Town of Rome, Wis., on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Eric Wenger presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Lunch will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lakes Area Christian Fellowship.
