David John Parks

MADISON - David John Parks was born on May 6, 1961, and died on Sunday, March 29, 2015, after a prolonged struggle to breathe caused by the complications of advanced emphysema. At birth, David was placed for adoption with a family in Hoffman, Minn., who later moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. After he turned 21 and during a time when adult adoptees all over the country were beginning to search for birth parents, David decided to look for his birth mother and found her in Madison. Her family was welcoming to him and he decided to move here. He worked as a professional server in high-end restaurants and later because of health issues, as a driver for Green Cab and most recently, for the ride-sharing company Uber, where he earned many compliments from riders and management. At times when he had the least resources himself, he would share with others, who crossed his path, who had even less. For over a year now, David's birth father and his wife have been in contact and have enriched his life in many special and generous ways. David is survived by his birth mother, Kathryn Seifert and her partner, Roy Schenk; her son, Steve Harkins (Dana Burmaster); daughter, Vicki Harkins (Alex Hughes), all of Madison; Vicki's son, Ryan DeBolt (Kira Frank) of San Francisco, Calif.; his birth father, Peter Burger and his wife, Carol of Bellevue, Wash.; his adoptive mother, Margaret Parks (adoptive father Richard, deceased), their daughter, Linda and her children, all of Sioux Falls, S.D. An informal memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 2 p.m. with a reception and visitation preceding from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Road, Madison, WI 53704.
