David A. Young

David A. Young, 62, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Edgerton Care Center after a lengthy illness. He was the only child born to James and Jacqueline (Schulz) Young on November 28, 1961 in Rockford, Illinois. David attended St. Bernadette’s School where he began his love for music participating in band and choir that continued throughout his time at Boylan Senior High School (Rockford), from which he graduated in 1979.

In addition to loving all kinds of music, David was an avid sports fan. He loved playing Riverside Men’s League golf for many years, making many friends. He also was a strong supporter of the Janesville Jets local youth hockey club and had season tickets on the glass, which was the best spot to see the “good sprays”. David was a life-long fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks and was humbled to have met retired NHL player Steve Konroyd. Dave became a fan of any Wisconsin Badger sport from living in the great Cheesehead state for over 2 decades after meeting his loving and supportive wife, Beth.

David met his wife Beth (Spangler) Young in 2004 and exchanged vows and made it official on May 5, 2006 at the Little Chapel of the West in Las Vegas, Nevada surrounded by amazing family and numerous friends (some of which may have come home with some money) but absolutely everyone came home with memories to cherish for a lifetime!

David is survived by his wife Beth, his mother, a son Dustin, 2 grandsons, and his devoted Golden Retriever Hazel Harper. He is preceded in death by his father, and 2 amazing labradors Wrigley and Rizzo. David also leaves behind countless supportive and engaging friends including his dedicated pal Mike (Wally) Altman who always made time for visits and comradery even before David became ill.

A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Rock County Brewing Company from 1pm to 5pm to share a sip, a story, and a sammich. Cheers Big Guy-until we all meet again.
