MADISON - Darlene Faye Monson, age 83, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, with family by her side. She was born December 15, 1938, in Madison, WI, to Hilda and Wilbur Ninedorf. Darlene was one of three girls with an indescribable bond. All that knew and loved her called her “Pete.” In 1957 Darlene graduated from Central High School and worked for a few years at Research Product.
Darlene had four sons- Ricky, Steve, Tommy, and Danny. Family was of great importance to her. She devoted her life to caring for her son Danny until his passing in 2016. Darlene loved spending time with her six grandchildren, whom she babysat on a regular basis. Additionally, Darlene enjoyed fishing, taking walks, spending time on the porch, and watching game shows.
She is survived by her sister, Joanne Ninedorf; three children, Ricky (Kathy) Monson, Steven (Yvonne) Monson, and Thomas (Kelly) Monson; grandchildren, Emily (Joseph) McGonigle, Samantha Monson, Sara (Ross) Monson, Megan Monson, Ryan (Kulani) Monson, and Erika Monson; great-grandchild, Ramsey Benjamin; cousins; nieces; nephews; friends; and good friend, Brenda Martinez. She is preceded in death by her son, Danny Monson; her parents; her sister, Delores Tuggle; brother-in-law, William Tuggle; and nephew, Todd Tuggle.
A celebration of life will be held at Tenney Park at the John Wall Family Pavilion on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tenney Park is a significant place for Darlene and her family.
A special thank you to her sister Joanne for her exceptional care over the years. Thank you for the beautiful memories you’ve left each of us. You will be forever in our hearts.
