Daniel Dan G. Detert, 79, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, June 28th at Huntington Place in Janesville, WI. Dan was born July 15, 1936 in Janesville to Walter and Sylvia Detert. Dan was a lifelong resident of Janesville. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1954. Dan was accepted to the General Motors College in Detroit, Michigan where he earned his engineering degree. He worked his whole career as an Industrial Engineer at GM-Janesville. Dan was an avid hunter and fisherman, and pursued his passion throughout the United States and Canada. His numerous trophies were proudly displayed in his home. Dan also loved to fly and earned his recreational pilots license in the 1960s. He was a bicycling enthusiast and put many thousands of miles behind him peddling around the Midwest. Dan met the love of his life, Charlotte, in 2008. They enjoyed going to the theater, traveling and singing old songs, and, reading. Charlotte and Dan spent many hours sharing and laughing together. Charlotte will most of all miss Dans sense of humor. Dan is survived by his wife Charlotte, and nieces; Diana (Don) Trask and Dana Detert. He is further survived by three grandnieces; Allison, Cassandra and Stephanie Trask. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother; Dale Detert and his sister-in-law; Bette Detert. A memorial service to celebrate Dans life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 10:30 am, at Milton Lawns Memorial Park, 2200 Milton Ave. in Janesville.
