Dale R. Schmitz

MADISON – Dale R. Schmitz, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at St. Marys Hospital in Madison, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, despite all the help he received at the time.

Dale was born in Madison on April 24, 1961, the son of Robert and Alice Schmitz. He graduated from Madison La Follette High School and Madison College. Most recently Dale was employed by Badger Bus where he enjoyed getting "his kids” to and from school.

Devil’s Lake State Park was his happy place, and he would visit every chance he got. He also was an avid fisherman. He really enjoyed running lights for local bands and was looking forward to a summer filled with concerts.

Dale is survived by his mother, Alice Schmitz; sister, Deb (Bob) Amundson; brother, Brian (Julie Kiesow) Schmitz; nephews, Marc, Daniel, and Jonathan; niece, Kristin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Dale requested no funeral or visitation, but a party in his honor is being planned for a later date.
