MADISON - Connie Marie (Slotten) Forbes passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. She was born in Madison on Jan. 12, 1956, to Robert and Donna Slotten. Connie proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in South Carolina. Connie returned to Madison where she earned her associates degree in liberal arts and completed credits towards her bachelor degree at UW-Madison. Connie was passionate about youth programs and worked at both the Kennedy Heights and Atwood Community Centers, touching the lives of many children. Connie will be remembered by her family and friends as caring and fun loving, with a great sense of humor. She adored her dog, Buddy. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing cards and Scrabble. She had a green thumb and loved to share her many beautiful house plants with others. Connie also enjoyed volunteering at the VFW for many years. She will be deeply missed. Connie is survived by her children whom she adored, her daughter, Christina (Ronnie Hall) Forbes of DeForest and her son, Michael (Megan Kuntz) Forbes of DeForest; her grandchildren, Michael and Noelle; her mother, Donna Slotten of DeForest; her siblings, Kathy (Pete) Kurt of Morrisonville, Barb (Larry) Christenson of Charlotte, Mich., Phil (ex-wife, Bekki) Slotten of Madison, Jim (Patti Lattanzio) Slotten of Cottage Grove, Bob (Barb) Slotten of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Judy (John) Bayer of DeForest; 15 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews; along with numerous other family and friends, including her dear friend, Susan Kelso. She was preceded in death by her dad, Robert; maternal grandparents, Bert and Cecilia Walford; paternal grandparents, Sam and Alice Slotten; her nephew, Daniel Kurt; and special friend, Ted Burns. A memorial service will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, beginning at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at a later date at St. William's Cemetery in Paoli.
