Claude A. Sailor

MADISON - Claude A. Sailor, age 94, of Madison, died on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Oakwood Village West. He was born in Elkhart, Ind., to Albert R. Sailor and Stella J.Sailor. He married Dorothea M. Reid in 1941. Claude worked for the Foster Machine Tool Co. in Elkhart, from 1938 to 1945, when they moved to Madison, where he worked as a mechanical engineer for Gisholt Machine Company from 1945 to 1971. They then moved to Appleton, where he worked for Giddings and Lewis Co. until his retirement in 1983. Both Claude and Dorothea volunteered at the Appleton Medical Center for the next 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with family, golf, music, travel and church activities. He enriched the lives of family and friends with his kindness, humor and caring for others. Claude is survived by Dottie, his wife of 70 years; son, Thomas (Mary); son, Timothy (Marion); daughter, Patricia (David) Camper; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. The family suggests donations in memory of Claude be made to Appleton Medical Center or Oakwood Village - Madison West. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Claude's life on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. The service will be held at RESURRECTION CHAPEL AT OAKWOOD VILLAGE WEST, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison.
