Christopher J. Rohr

April 23, 1960 — July 14, 2021

MADISON - After a sudden battle with cancer Chris passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, with his daughters by his side. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert M. Rohr, and nephew, Benjamin R. Rohr. He is succeeded by his mother, Jane; daughters, Hilary and Margaret; son-in-law, Aaron; brother, Jeffrey and his wife Cyd, and their children and grandchildren; sister, Sara; and sister, Susi, and her husband, Tim, and their children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, Chris was a devoted and caring son to his mother, brother to his siblings, and father to his daughters. He will be remembered for his easygoing sense of humor and his constant willingness to lend a hand or an ear. If he couldn't fix a problem with duct tape he would try with a hug, and then break it down into its component pieces and put it back together again. He was born and raised in Madison, Wis. He worked for the State of Wisconsin for over 25 years, first for the Capitol Police as an Electronics Technician, then for the University of Wisconsin Department of Information Technology. He would often joke that he had written computer programs that were now old enough to vote, and were still running on government servers somewhere. In 2016 he completed his Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics through Western Governors University. Chris loved the outdoors, and was an avid camper, hiker, and kayaker. He made jewelry in his spare time, and was happiest in his home workshop, working on anything from leather tooling to electronics, carving to lapidary. An avid fan of history, Chris enjoyed visiting and participating in Renaissance Faires, and found life-long friends as a member of the Tribe of the Blue Rose reenactment group. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Ice Age Trail Alliance, of which Chris was an active and passionate member, or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network working for early cancer detection. All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Services of Madison is assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at www.866allfaiths.com
