Cheryl A. Schmidt

JANESVILLE Cheryl Ann Schmidt, 61, of Janesville passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017. Cheryl was born May 9, 1955 in Chicago, to Lyle and Bernice Lee. Cheryl was the loving mother of two sons; Christopher and Justin. She was devoted to her bulldogs, Tizzie and Minnie, and loved all kinds of bulldogs. Cheryl was the founder and current co-owner of Dance Attitudes Dance Studio in Janesville. Her business began in her basement in 1982 and has grown into an award-winning, nationally recognized dance studio. Many of her students have gone on to professional careers or to become dance teachers themselves. Cheryl left behind a legacy of love. As a teacher she inspired, encouraged and challenged her dancers and took pride in their accomplishments. As a friend, she was faithful and believed in a persons goodness. She made people laugh just by being herself. She was devoted to her belief in God and freely shared her devotion. Cheryl was recognized as a Rock County YWCA Woman of Distinction in 2005. She was a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in the Checetti form of ballet. Cheryl is survived by her sons, Christopher (Mary Henze) Schmidt and Justin (Sumaiya Tracy) Schmidt, both of Janesville; her brother, Scott (Susan) Lee of Janesville; and her niece, Audrey Lee of Bloomington, Ind. She is further survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins, as well as her entire Dance Attitudes family including current and former students. She joins her parents, Lyle and Bernice, in Heaven. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL HOME, 1618 E. Racine St., Janesville. A memorial service will be Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2931 Lucerne Dr., Janesville, with Pastor Jeff Williams presiding. Visitation will also be held at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Services will be followed by a luncheon. Guests are invited to bring a dish to pass.
