MADISON – Charlotte A. Reiss, age 83, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 after battling a long illness. She was born July 14, 1929 in Platteville, the daughter of Edith Edgington. She graduated from Platteville High School and then attended UW-Platteville where she received her degree in teaching. Following her graduation, she began teaching in a one room school in Dickeyville. Charlotte later went on to work for the State of Wisconsin, Dept. of Health and Social Services and well as for the State Vital Records Dept. Charlotte was loved by all the people of Arbor Covenant Church and will be deeply missed. She touched the lives of everyone she met. She is survived by her children, Annie (Steve Comeau) Reiss, Bill (Myra Yocum) Reiss, Rhonda (Doug) Hallmark, LeRoy (Julie) Reiss, and Laura Perez; grandchildren, Nick (Chelsea), Tara and Carla (Rosa) Olvara; along with many other grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Royce (Rita) Edgington; and a dear friend, Mary Welcome. She was preceded in death by her mother; a son, Dean Edgington; and her close friend, Fred McCartney. A memorial service will be held at ARBOR COVENANT CHURCH, 2502 McDivitt Rd., Madison on Saturday, March 2, 2013 beginning at 2 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Middleton Village and St. Jude’s Hospice for the special care they gave to Charlotte.
