Charles W. Johnson

MADISON – Charles Ward Johnson, age 59 of Madison, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at his home. He was born in Madison on Dec. 13, 1964, the son of Ward and Crellin (Hartman) Johnson.

Upon graduating from Madison West High School in 1983, he served in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in 1987.

Charley was a sweet soul who was very sociable and would talk to anybody he met. He was hindered by a learning disability but had a gift for remembering names and dates.

Charley excelled at tennis and golf. When playing, he had a feel for the “sweet spot”. He loved bowling, especially at Schwoeglers Lanes in Madison. Charley was a Star Trek devotee and ended phone calls with “Kirk out”.

Charley is survived by his sisters, Susan (Robert) Lomasney and Sarah Johnson; niece, Laura (Creighton) Johnson Long; and great niece, Ivy Long. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Crellin Johnson.

Charley struggled with alcoholism. He will be missed…”Spock out”.
