Charles R. Blood, Sr.

MADISON - Charles R. Blood, Sr., 69, passed away March 20, 2008, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born January 30, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to Charles and Florence (Barber) Blood. He served in the USAF and WI Air National Guard. He was an engineer previously employed by McDonnell Douglas, CUNA Mutual, and General Electric. For 15 years he was self-employed as an owner-operator semi driver and was most recently employed by Stoughton Trailer until his retirement. His favorite pastime was sailing on Lake Champlain, the Great Lakes, and Lake Mendota. In 2006, his last proud accomplishment was graduating “Captain” from the U.S. Coast Board Merchant Marines. He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children: Charles (Anne) Blood, Jr.; Cheryl Bohling; Sheila (Sparkie Lovejoy); and Michael D. Blood. He is also survived by his sister, Noranna (Carl) Sissom; grandchildren Brandon, Adam, Alex, and Nicholas; and step grandchildren Bobbie and Billie Bohling, and Patrick Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents. Our special thanks to the staff at HospiceCare, Inc., who took such wonderful care of him; Dr. Giesen and his staff; and UW Health Oncology. There will be a memorial mass at St. Dennis Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. at the church; the mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Charlie can be made to HospiceCare, Inc., 5395 E.
