MADISON, WIS. - Charles E. Jones, age 78, passed away at University Hospital in Madison, Wis., surrounded by family and friends on Friday, July 13, 2018. Charles graduated from Dinwiddie High, Virginia, class of 1957. He attended Virginia State and served in the U.S. Air Force at posts in vreux-Fauville Air Base, France and Truax Field Air Base, Wis. Charles worked as a caretaker helping people with disabilities to live their most fulfilling lives and was a caring babysitter to his grandchildren. He was a volunteer at the East Madison Community Center and Hannahs House. He loved gardening and for many years maintained a garden at the Truax Community Garden, as well as, an abundance of plants at his home. He also loved reading and was an avid collector of literature. He is survived by mother, Mary Alston; former wife, Johnnie Jones, mother of daughters, Crystal (Zimme), Tanya (Jesse), Felicia; and sons, Charles (Kim) and Jonathan (Deb); daughter, Regina; sons, Tyson, Tylon and Tyron; companion, Rhonda; grandsons, Jeremy, Aarron, Taylor, Trevor and Njorge; granddaughters, Dana, Dina, Jasmine, Brittney and LeMya; sister, Daisy; and many great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Jones; daughter, Diane Gordon: friends, Helen Carr, Dorothy Gordon, and Sharon Meyers; and best friend, Larry Kidd. His favorite bible verses: Psalms 100:1-5 1 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the lands! 2 Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the LORD is God! It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him, bless his name! 5 For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. His favorite saying: There is nothing so strong as gentleness, and nothing so gentle as real strength. The family will be holding a private family celebration of life.
