Catherine A. Schlecht

MADISON - Catherine "Kitty" (Hughes) Schlecht, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Oak Park Place in Madison. She was born in Madison on Aug. 12, 1936, the daughter of Howard and Rosita (Mueller) Hughes. She graduated from St. Marys Catholic High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., class of 1954. Over the years, she worked for different State of Wisconsin agencies. Kitty was a great seamstress, loved to crochet, an excellent baker and proud grandma and great-grandma. She loved visiting the different state parks, nature, sledding, ice skating and long walks. She is survived by five children, Sue (Dave) Crary, Ron (Carolyn) Rydberg, Randy (Sue) Rydberg, Mary (Jim) Chapman and Mike Rydberg; three grandchildren, Michelle McGinley, Christy (Hugo) Chapman and Jamie Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Skyler, Sean and Rosana; and a brother, Rob Cochran. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, David Hughes. A memorial service will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Road, Madison, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, beginning at 6 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
