Casey M. Carlin

MADISON - Casey Carlin, age 38, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016. He left Camp Carlin with his family by his side, according to his wishes. Casey was born in Madison on March 13, 1978. He graduated from Lafollette High School in 1996 and promptly enlisted in the Wisconsin Air National Guard where he was trained as a Crash Rescue Specialist. He was deployed to Afghanistan just months after the attacks on 9/11. Casey then accomplished his dream of following in his fathers footsteps by becoming a City of Madison Firefighter in April of 2003. Casey is survived by his mother, Beverly Carlin (Mike); sister, Molly Carlin; brother, Jeff Misfeldt (Leslie); nieces, Bailie and Camerin Misfeldt, Alissa Hanson (RJ); grandmother; aunts; uncles; cousins; and all of his many friends. Casey is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Carlin; maternal grandparents; paternal grandfather; cousin, Nicole Jackson; and his beloved dog, Duke. Casey wants to thank all who were there for him; family, dearest friends, VA Hospital staff and Agrace HospiceCare. An open house will be held at OLBRICH BOTANICAL GARDENS, 3330 Atwood Ave., Madison on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 4:30pm with a final salute and military honors at 4 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at the Coliseum Bar.
