Carrie F. Berg went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 28, 2022. She was 106 years old. Carrie was the youngest daughter of Lars and Emma (Krueger) Jacobson, born May 20, 1915. Carrie married Alvin E. Berg on July 25, 1936, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley, Wis. They were married nearly 50 years. She is survived by three of her four children and their spouses: Betty and Gerald Chlebowski of DeForest, Wis., Rita and Gerald Wesolowski of Green Bay, Wis., Roy and Julie (Lobajeski-Berg) of Green Bay, Wis., and Pat (Amenson) Berg of Pulaski, Wis. She also is survived by 14 grandchildren and their spouses; 25 great grandchildren and spouses; and 19 great great grandchildren. Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her son, Roger; her parents; sister, Viola; her brothers, Carl and John; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law. Carrie was born, raised and lived nearly her entire life in the Town of Green Valley, Wis., except for the past few months where she lived with her daughter Betty. She grew up on the family farm and walked to school carrying her little metal lunch bucket. She saw so many things change in the world over the course of her life: from horse and buggy to cars, no telephone in her house to cell phones, no electricity or indoor plumbing to modern day conveniences. She even tried out a cell phone, and an iPad. When asked what her secret for living a long life is, she would always say it was drinking hot water. Her greatest interests in life were sharing her talents with family, church and friends. She was a gifted seamstress - she could look at something, create her own patterns and then sew it. As she got into her 90’s she gifted many of us with handmade quilts. Carrie collected material anywhere she could find it, and sewed many, many quilts for her church which were for missions. We guess that she has created hundreds of quilts which are warming needy people all over the world. She also made beautiful doilies with the most intricate of patterns - all with no training. The most important part of her life was her faith. She received Jesus into her heart as her personal savior, and it is her greatest wish that everyone would do so, so that we can all be together in Heaven one day. She was a great prayer warrior for her family and those with whom she was acquainted. At the end of most visits with her, she would always say “May the good Lord bless you”. The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare of Fitchburg, Wis., for their loving care, and especially her ‘friends’ Kendra and Leslie. Mom (Grandma)... we love you so very much and will miss you more than words can say. We are happy that you are now “Absent from the body, and present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). A private ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held for Carrie at a future date. All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Services of Madison is assisting the family.
