COTTAGE GROVE – Carol (Larson) Ostman passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Melvin Ostman; children, Peggy (Gerald) Berg, of Cottage Grove, Lynn (Perry) Brustad, of Sun Prairie, Marvin (Laurie) Ostman of Hudson, Merlin (Jean) Ostman of Baraboo, and Kevin Ostman of Waunakee; 10 grandchildren, Tara, Tanya, Tasha, Justin, Shane, Tianna, Emberlie, Clarissa, Ryker and Jentzen; 11 great grandchildren; and siblings, Albin Larson of Forest Lake, MN, LeRoy Larson of Carlton, MN, Wendell Larson of Superior and Karen Morrow of Hastings, MN. She had more nieces, nephews, cousins, along with very special friends and acquaintances, too many to mention by name. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Edith Larson of Carlton, MN; her grandson, Cole and great grandson, Maverick, both of Baraboo. Her life’s work brought her great satisfaction. Among many other things, her activity revolved around: her active faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses; raising her five children; her desire and willingness to help wherever help was needed. She provided five-star hospitality to complete strangers, especially in the years on Minnesota Street in Sandstone, MN. Oh yeah, when as a child she was given the choice between house chores and cleaning the barn, she chose the barn every time! She was a country girl at heart. A memorial service will be held at the KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES, 4545 E. Buckeye Rd., Madison on Saturday, October 12, 2013 beginning at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow the service.
