JANESVILLE - Carl J. Greenwald, age 72, of Janesville died Friday, March 17, 2017 at Mercy Hospital of complications from pancreatitis. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 19, 1944, the son of Harry and Alice Greenwald. He served during the Korean Conflict in the Armys Security Agency. Carl was a graduate of the University of Illinois with an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. He married Donna Langdon on June 8, 1974. Carl was retired from Alliant/WP&L and American Transmission Company. He was known as the Engineers Engineer. Carl was admired by his colleagues and found great pride in mentoring young engineers. Carl volunteered for Junior Achievement, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts. After retirement, he especially enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren and sharing his passion for engineering by volunteering in his granddaughter's classroom. Survivors include his wife, Donna; son, Grant; daughter, Julie (Matthew) Skalecki; brother, Clyde (Sharon) Greenwald; nephew, K.C. (Joanne) Greenwald; Nancy (Dave-deceased) Greenwald; and the three loves of his life, his grandchildren Anna, Benjamin, and Natalie Skalecki. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew. A memorial service will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI, on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation services were provided by All Faiths Funeral Home.
