BLACK EARTH – Bruce L. Miller, age 61, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at home with his brother, Brian and niece, Ashley, by his side. Bruce was born in Madison on Feb. 2, 1953, the son of William R. and Neva B. (Bitney) Miller. He attended Madison East High School. After high school, Bruce worked at WPS for many years in maintenance. He also worked at several school districts performing maintenance work. Bruce was an avid craftsman. He enjoyed making jewelry boxes, plant stands, and pencil holders in great detail. Bruce built his home in Black Earth from the ground up with the help of his brother, Brian and many close friends. He also loved cooking and grilling, and had mastered the perfect beef brisket. Bruce is survived by a sister, JoAnn (Michael Patton) Hobbs, of Madison; two brothers, Lynn (Lori Powell) Miller and Brian D. (Lori) Miller, all of Madison; lifelong friends, Rex Olson, Roger Sarbacher, Randy Bjelde and Vicki Harper; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and a special friend, Krystal Cape. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his four dogs, Tess, Lucy, Alex and Tucker, who were his life. Bruce will forever be remembered for his great big bear hugs, funny wit, superb cooking skills and wonderful skill in woodworking. The family would like to especially thank the amazing staff at Agrace HospiceCare for their dedication and compassion, as well as the staff at UW Health-Cross Plains Clinic. Per Bruce’s wishes, no funeral will be held. Memorials in Bruce’s name may be made to Agrace HospiceCare, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy., Madison, WI 53711
