Brian K. Schwartzlow

September 15, 1973 — October 20, 2019

MADISON - Brian Schwartzlow, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on at Meriter Hospital in Madison, Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019. Born on Sept. 15, 1973 to Nathan and Mary Lou Schwartzlow, Brian was born and raised in Wisconsin and graduated from James Madison Memorial High School in 1992. Brian was a selfless man who was always willing to help people out whenever, and however, he could. Despite his own declining health, he remained committed to, and took great pride in, serving local veterans as the DAV's Transportation Coordinator for the last five years. For over 20 consecutive years Brian showed his support to those living with muscular dystrophy by participating in the annual Sauk Prairie/Madison Harley Davidson MDA ride. Thanks to years of working as a bartender and bouncer when he was younger, along with his laid-back demeanor, Brian gained many friends far and wide. He helped many patrons get home safe over the years by offering them a sober ride home and he was always happy to do it. He could talk to anyone about anything for hours and those he encountered never forgot him. Brian enjoyed many things throughout his life including bowling with his father and brothers, playing pool as a member of local tavern leagues, frisbee golf, watching movies, playing cards with family and friends, and being an avid motorcyclist. In addition to being part of a very tight knit, loving family he was also blessed with a couple of the most loyal companions anyone could ask for; his first dog, Jesse, and now Dakota. Brian's dogs were like his children and he loved to spoil them with his love, attention, and training. He even trained Dakota to be his trusty service dog and the two of them were inseparable. For Brian family always came first and he remained extremely close with his parents throughout his adult life and his younger brother was his life-long best friend and confidant. Brian was a very proud, wonderful, and involved uncle to four nieces, one great-niece and three nephews. He always did his best to attend school music programs and he always encouraged and supported his nieces and nephews interests. Brian is survived by his mother, Mary Lou; brothers, Richard Schwartzlow and Eric (Christina) Schwartzlow; sister, Deborah (Ronald) Brett; nieces, Felicia Kaltenberg, Valerie (Sheri) Beard, Georgina Brett, and Jayla Schwartzlow; great-niece, Jocelynn Brett; nephews, Larry Kaltenberg, Tristan Brett, and Aiden Schwartzlow; his beloved dog, Dakota; close friends, Tim and Amy Soldner; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathan; grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mon Yee who cared for Brian for many years. Brian considered Dr. Yee a friend in addition to being his most trusted physician.
