They both loved the Lord and quickly joined a church wherever they landed. She was involved with many Christian ministries and bible studies and set a wonderful example.
Betty was a gifted singer and began her singing career at 15, singing with her Uncle Skeete Shaw's dance orchestra at the height of the war. She used her beautiful voice in church and many other places and with various bands that made her somewhat of a local celebrity, especially in Cincinnati, where she appeared extensively singing with small combos and big bands at Coney Island. Betty’s voice was even heard in TV commercials in Cincinnati for over 20 years.
