Betty A. Sharlow

Betty Adelia Sharlow, 73, of Janesville, Wis., passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2008. Betty was born on April 16, 1934, in Burlington, Wis., the daughter of James and Gladys (Johnson) Langdon. She married Walter “Bud” Sharlow on July 20, 1960. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1983. She lived in Chicago, Ill., for many years, where she was an active member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, a longtime Girl Scout leader and a local school volunteer. Betty moved to Janesville in 2002, so she could be closer to her family, whom she loved dearly. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Janesville, serving as president of its women’s club (FLCW) and a member of the Ruth Circle. She also was involved in the Rock County Senior Companion Program and participated in many volunteer activities in the city. She is survived by two sisters, Pat LaConte of Greenfield, Wis., and Jean Uebelacker of Janesville; a brother, James (Rita) Langdon of Marco Island, Fla.; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other beloved relatives; and dear friends. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, January 14, at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Ave., Janesville. Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. All Faiths Funeral and Cremation Services in Janesville is assisting the family. Memorials may be made in Betty’s name to First Lutheran Church. One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove or what kind of clothes I wore. All that will matter is that I made a difference in the life of a child.
