Barbara Ann Kampe

Barbara Ann Kampe was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 1, 2024. She was born on March 1, 1933, in Portage, Wisconsin, the daughter of Justus and Olga Rathjen. She married Lawrence “Larry” Kampe on August 23, 1958.

Barb attended St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas where she met Larry. Barb completed her schooling at UW-Stevens Point and was an elementary school teacher until she became a mother. Her most important job was raising her three children and fostering a loving, Christian home. She loved music, painting, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barb is survived by her husband of 65+ years, Larry; her sister, Grace (Jim) Timm of Tempe, AZ; her children, Laurie Van Haren of Middleton, Mark (Paula) Kampe of Middleton, and John (Amy) Kampe of Neenah; grandchildren, Nicole (Luke) Volp, Ashley (Tom) Fritz, Danielle (Marty) Wernimont, Joshua (Kate) Kampe, Cody (Abbey) Van Haren, Caitlyn Kampe, and Ben Kampe; great-grandchildren, Roman and Wesley Fritz, Lincoln, Sawyer, and Mason Volp, Grayson Kampe and another Van Haren great grandchild is on the way. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Justus “Hank” Rathjen; and her infant sister, Elaine.

A joint funeral service for Larry and Barb will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at LUTHERAN CHURCH OF THE LIVING CHRIST, 110 N. Gammon Rd., Madison. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Larry and Barb to Lutheran Church of the Living Christ, Agrace or a charity of your choice.
