Arlis E. Thompson

MADISON – Arlis E. Thompson, age 80 of Madison, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. She was born Jan. 16, 1932 in Tomah, Wis., the daughter of Ernest and Esther (Von Haden) Prechel. Following graduation from Tomah High School, she married Norman Thompson. Arlis enjoyed bingo, reading, cross words, and family gatherings, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three children, James (Dena) Thompson, of Cottage Grove, Robert (Lisa) Thompson, of Plainfield, Ill., and Judy (Walter) Benson, of Poynette; five grandchildren, Autumn, Thomas, Traci, Keith, and Christal; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Adaline; three sisters, Vivian, Arlene and Bernadine; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Arlis was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services will be held at ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Rd., Madison, on Monday, Feb.27, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
