MADISON – Anita M. Wallin, age 76 of Madison, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2006 at University Hospital, after a two month battle with illness. She was born February 1, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, the eldest daughter of Manuel and Paula (Zapien) Alba. She married Donald A. Wallin on January 24, 1953 in Omaha. Anita was a homemaker and a city of Madison crossing guard in the 1960’s, before the family moved to rural Oregon where she continued raising their six children. Anita later worked at Jackson Clinic after earning her certification as a Medical Assistant from MATC. She eventually moved on to be a Financial Advisor in Admissions at the University Hospital. After retiring in 1992, Anita continued as a part time volunteer at the hospital and remained active in her church. Anita is survived by her two sisters, Mary Clark and Martha Bailey, both of Nebraska; six children, Suzanne Spurgeon, Donald (Sue) Wallin, Jr., Kathleen (John) Anthony, Andrea Wallin-Tofte (fiancé, Tom Hineline), Stephanie (Jeff) Hollenbeck and Erika Wallin; 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Colette, Garrett, David, Lisa, Stephen, James, Jacob, April and Rex; two great grandchildren, Kory and Tyson. Anita was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John and Modesto Alva; sister, Lucy Klusaw; and former husband, Donald A. Wallin, Sr. A memorial service will be held at the EASTSIDE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2310 Independence Lane, on Thursday, August 18, 2006 at 6 p.m. with Rev. Glen Schmiege officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. There will be a private family burial on Friday at the Towne of Dunn Burial Ground.
