JANESVILLE - The Reverend Andrew Siedsma, Jr. passed into eternity on October 18, 2014. Rev. Siedsma was born on April 18, 1932 in Sanborn, Iowa to Andrew Sr. and Jenny (Verhoef) Siedsma. He married Rita Donahue on November 22, 1950 in Worthington, MN. Andrew worked as a mail carrier for several years prior to becoming an ordained minister in the Free Methodist Church. He pastored the Janesville Free Methodist Church from 1973 to 1989. After retirement, Andrew served as itinerant pastor at the Shopiere Congregational Church. He enjoyed woodworking, building, playing cards with friends and family, and was an avid car enthusiast. Andrew is survived by his four daughters, Leila (Michael) Gray, Niles, MI; Kathryn (Robert) Alsman, Austin, TX; Renee (the late Joseph) McGuan, DeKalb, IL and Christine (James) Knull, Janesville, WI. Grandchildren Matthew Gray, Wichita, KS; Michele (Timothy) Ashton, Niles, MI; LeAnn (Joshua) Embry, Austin, TX; James (Heather) Alsman, Austin, TX; Daniel & Ryan Knull, Janesville, WI., and great-grandchildren, Nikoli Alsman, Jonathan, Madeline, and Isaac Embry and Oliver and Elliott Ashton. He is also survived by two brothers, Earl (Judi) Siedsma, Bruce, WI; Richard (Charlotte) Siedsma, Summersville, MO; three sisters, JoAnne McHolland, Issaquah, WA; Norma (Arlo) Siegersma, Nampa, ID; and Laura (the late James) Oldenkamp, Sibley, IA as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew Sr. & Jenny, his wife, Rita, brothers John and Paul Siedsma, sister Linda Russell, and half-brothers Ray, Clarence & Dirk Siedsma, half-sisters, Elizabeth (Harry) Statema, Florence (George) Sorenson, Ann (Mason) Verhoef, Martha Siedsma, and Dora Surovitz, numerous nieces and nephews and son-in-law Joseph McGuan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wisconsin Alzheimers Institute, 7818 Big Sky Dr., Madison, WI 53719 Services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, 3300 Mt. Zion Avenue, Janesville, WI 53546 on Saturday, November 1, 2014 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 and a memorial service at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. Michael Gray officiating. Inurnment will take place at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Rock Haven Nursing Home for the care they provided over the years.
