MADISON - Allyn Richard Sielaff died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at the age of 82, in Middleton. He was a graduate of Western Reserve University (B.A., M.S.S.W.) and Cleveland State Law School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and the FBI, before he pursued a career in corrections. He served as Commissioner of Corrections for Pennsylvania, Illinois, Wisconsin, Virginia and New York City. He was nationally known as an advocate for alternatives to incarceration and rehabilitation strategies to reduce recidivism. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Sielaff. He is survived by his two sons, Terry and Timothy; brother, Rollin; and spouse, Gretchen. A private memorial service will be held. The family offers its deep gratitude to the staff of Heartland Hospice.
