MADISON – Alfred “Butch” M. Wensel, age 67 of Madison, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 5, 1940 in La Crosse, the son of Lawrence and Esther (Cain) Wensel. Butch served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Diane Adams Nov. 27, 1970 in La Crosse. Butch loved to travel, fish, cook, telling stories and spending time with his family. He touched many lives with his humor and huge heart, never turning anyone away. Butch is survived by, his wife Diane; three children, Darcey Wensel, of Fitchburg, Amber (Gena Luettinger) Wensel, Fitchburg, and Tory (Lisle Comstock) Wensel, of McFarland; his protective companion, Buddy Love; a brother, Larry (Adeline) Wensel, of Racine; and a sister, Ramona Rodriguez, of Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, too numerous to mention. Although Butch did not have any grandchildren yet, he loved his “grand-pets” dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty and Jerri, and a brother, Clifford. A memorial gathering celebrating Butch’s life will be held at the ALL FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 4058 Lien Road, on Sunday, April 29, 2007 from noon until 2 p.m. Burial will be held in the Sand Creek Cemetery, Burns Township, on Sunday at 5 p.m. with full military honors. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at HospiceCare and the VA Hospital for everything they have done. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
