MADISON - Albert L. Butkas, age 60 of Madison, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. Al was born April 27, 1948 in Chicago, the son of Albert R. and RoseMarie (Benner) Butkas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the 82nd Airborne. He married JoAnn White on Nov. 19, 1977 in Lodi, Wis. He worked for 32 years at Miles Laboratories in Madison. Al was a big NASCAR fan, loved to fish, and party with friends. Al is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of Madison; a sister, Margo Butkas, of Cameron, Wis.; a brother, Barry Butkas, of Jacksonville, Fl.; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of Al's life will be held at DUTCH MILL SPORTS CLUB, Madison on Saturday, May 2, 2009 starting at 2 p.m. Sports Sunday For all the lazy afternoons You cheered on the home team From your favorite chair, And all the times you cheered us on, We always strove to make you proud Though your heroes were on the field And on the screen, You were our hero all along.
