Abel Maynez Cortinas

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of my mother's beloved husband of 40 years, Abel Maynez Cortinas, who left us on October 29, 2024, at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.

Abel enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially at our cabin in Gays Mills, Wisconsin. There wasn't a soccer match that Abel did not enjoy watching. He enthusiastically cheered on FC Barcelona even after Messi no longer played for them.

Abel is survived by his wife, Juanita Maynez; his stepchildren, Magdalena, Rudy (Hilda), Ray (Tammi), Mona, Reynaldo (Marcus), and Randy (Emily); his nephew, Javier Avila Rios; as well as his many step grandchildren, with a special place in his heart for Sebastian, many step great grandchildren and a step great great grandchild.

Abel was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Maynez; his mother, Josefina Cortinas; his sister, Delia Gonzalez Maynez; his brother, Carlos Maynez Cortinas; and his beloved aunt, Francisca Diaz Maynez.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date with close family to remember Abel and support Juanita.
