Kurt J. Palm

Kerchival Joseph Palm, 77, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2025. Kurt was born in Chicago, IL, the oldest child of Kerchival Conrad Palm and Patricia (Harand) Palm. He had fond memories of playing baseball and practicing championship wrestling on his siblings Joe, Cindy, Chris, and Scott. Kurt joined the Navy at 17 and spent four years in Texas, but moved back to be near his family in Janesville, Wisconsin. In the area, he met Patricia Gebhardt at a summer job, and they married in February 1972. Kurt worked for the post office early in their marriage. He went to college on the GI bill and graduated with majors in Economics and Accounting. For several years he worked as an auditor and manager for First Wisconsin Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank, and the National Bank of Canada. He and Pat had four children; Tammy, David, Sarah, and Matt. In later years, he went back to the post office as a rural route carrier.

Kurt enjoyed playing the guitar and writing songs. He coached Little League. He experienced a deepening of his faith in the ‘80s and enjoyed discussing the word of God and helping out at church. He enjoyed fishing and camping in northern Minnesota. He liked to stay up late watching B movies, playing cards, and having opinions on every subject. In recent years, he loved a good Chicago hot dog and he and his brother Joe had a weekly date to find a good dog or beef.

Kurt is preceded in death by his parents, Kerchival Conrad Palm and Patricia Otto. He is survived by his wife Patricia and children Tamara Goodmanson, David Palm, Sarah d’Entremont, and Matthew Palm. He has six grandchildren; Evan Goodmanson, Isaac Goodmanson, Ashlyn d’Entremont, Jude Goodmanson, Luke Goodmanson, and Kayla d’Entremont. He is survived by all of his siblings; Joe Palm, Cynthia Glick, Christine Bullock, Scott Palm, and John Otto. A service will be organized for family and friends in the Spring.
