MADISON - Hallie Lou Blum, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sept. 21, 2011. Her kind, cheerful, and uplifting presence will be remembered by all. She leaves a legacy of compassionate, committed action for us to carry forward. Hallie Lou dedicated her life to helping others. She was born and raised in Madison, and was active in student government at the University of Wisconsin, before taking time to raise a family. As Assistant to the Dean of the Graduate School of George Washington University, in Washington, D.C., for more than 20 years, she helped students of all nationalities to obtain their higher degrees. Then she fully enjoyed volunteering, both on her own and in various organizations, throughout her last 25 years. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Bloom of Ashland, Ore., and Bonnie (Jeff) Bossler of Orcas Island, Wash.; her grandchildren, Skye (Kristi) Schumaker, Jacob Bossler and Lea Bossler; and her great-granddaughters, Jazmyn and Juniper Schumaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Blum; her sister, Stella Revell; and her brothers, George and Kyle Whitefield. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. in the GARDEN ROOM AT ATTIC ANGEL PLACE, 8301 Old Sauk Road, Middleton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Resident Aid Fund, Attic Angel Place, 8301 Old Sauk Road, Middleton, WI 53562.
